Labradoodles General Description

About 35 years ago, the Guide Dog Association created a breeding and research program to develop an allergy friendly, highly intelligent and loyal guide dog.

From this research and development sprang forth the Australian, Multi-Generation Labradoodle.

The first few generations of offspring from a labrador-poodle mix, called F1 or F2, do not typically produce all of the qualities mentioned below. Be cautious when purchasing a “labradoodle”, as many breeders are breeding F1 poodle/ lab mix and selling them as Labradoodles. But, a true multi-generation labradoodle means that the initial offspring are bred several generations deep (we recommend six) to truly create new breed characteristics.

These Multi-Generation Labradoodles will have excellent coat qualities with minimal-to-no odor or shedding. As a result a Multi-Generation Labradoodle is very allergy friendly.

The Multi-Generation Labradoodles are generally quite playful, affectionate, non-aggressive, loyal, intelligent (some would say TOO intelligent), and happy. Labradoodles have been bred to be well suited as service dogs of any kind. Their intelligence and intuition and desire to please makes them quite easy to train. Their coats should be shed free, odor free and hypo-allergenic.
